WHO WE ARE

The Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation Philippines, Inc. (NCFPI) is a foundation that provides comprehensive continuing care to patients with cleft and craniofacial anomalies, especially indigent Filipinos. It is registered with the Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and is accredited by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) and the Department of Social Welfare Department (DSWD).

Dr. M. Samuel Noordhoff

OUR SERVICES

WHAT WE DO

Pediatric Consultation and Nutritional Upbuilding

The Pediatrician provides evaluation and management of medical and nutritional challenges to optimize the child’s overall health and development before, during, and after cleft/craniofacial surgery.

Pre-operative NAM (Nasoalveolar Molding)

The babies born with cleft lip and palate have wide cleft gaps of the lips, gums and palate, and depressed nose. The Naso-Alveolar Molding (NAM) appliance offers great benefits to these patients by narrowing the cleft gaps and improving the nose prior to lip surgery. This results in better esthetic and more stable post surgery outcomes.

Speech Therapy

Cleft patients undergo speech therapy to correct articulation errors and improve intelligibility. The Speech-Language Pathologist also evaluates and monitors the patients’ speech and language development and recommends further surgery to correct speech if needed.

Surgery

The NCFPI can help patients in need of the following cleft treatment procedures – cheiloplasty (lip repair), palatoplasty (palate repair), ABG (alveolar bone graft), and orthognathic surgery. For craniofacial patients, NCFPI helps in providing the following surgeries, repair of naso-ethmoidal meningocoele and treatment of craniosynostosis.  NCFPI also helps non-cleft patients with dentofacial anomalies through orthognathic surgery.

Pediatric and General Dentistry

The Pediatric Dentistry team attends to infants’ and children’s oral health. The focus is on prevention and interception of oral diseases, such as decay of primary teeth, to attain healthy permanent dentition and improved outcomes of surgery and orthodontics.

Orthodontic Treatment

The Orthodontist works in close coordination with the whole team to correct and improve the alignment of the teeth and jaws, using braces and other fixed and removable appliances. This significantly enhances the function, esthetics and self-esteem of a cleft individual.

Social Services

Social work services are important throughout the child’s treatment. The social worker extends psycho-social counselling support and other information about the diagnosis and how this may affect the patient and the family. The social worker coordinates with the patient’s support group, networks with other groups or agencies, in order to facilitate various kinds of assistance to families of cleft and craniofacial patients. NCFPI provides activities and seminars that will help challenge health system policies and public attitude, opinion and the stigma that address the needs of cleft and craniofacial patients.

Parent and Peer Support

Focuses in creating peer and parent support groups that will give the needed support in handling special situations of cleft patients and their parents during their growth and with their personal and complex issues as they journey through life.
